Developing Racial Identity in Black American Youth In the development of racial identity in black American youth, there are 5 stages in developing racial identity between persons of color and 6 stages in developing racial identity in whites. Prior neighborhood experience matters when examining how black youth identify. The Caucasoid population is often considered as having more physical abilities and moral qualities followed by Mongoloid and the Negroid population. Racial identity is being considered as a surface level mainstream based on what we look about the matter of racial identities. In common sense thought, race is simply a fact: humans are not all alike, there are whites, blacks and yellows, maybe reds and browns too, and these different kinds are races, and that's just a feature of the way the world is.
