Stereotypes between racism and ageism are characterized differently since one is based on ethnicity and the other on age; including everyone no matter their race. When it comes to racial stereotypes people are discriminated based on how they should react. Society becomes more accustom with seeing poor black in the media and assumes the stereotype that all African Americans are unproductive due to how they are visually portrait. Far too often, minorities are judged on the color of their skin. African Americans and Hispanics are both victims of racial profiling. Racial profiling is the discrimination against an individual and suspecting something based off their race. Although Staples and Rodriquez had to endure racism and hatred from others, both victims learned to cope with their struggles in their own way. I agree with his statement our own race frightens us. Mass Media rubs it in our faces that Minorities are the leaders in gang violence, rapes, muggings, robbery, grand theft auto, and the majority of crimes in the cities and towns that either house us or are close by. Throughout history there have been many instances of oppression within the black community.

Around the country black males are stereotyped to be violent, mischievous, disrespectful, lazy and more. Black males are seen as a threat to people of different ethnicities whether it is in the business world, interactions with law enforcement or even being in the general public. The misperceptions of black males the make it extremely difficult for us to thrive and live in modern society. Ultimately, giving us an unfair advantage simply due to the color of our skin; something of which we have no control. Though many may not want to believe it, young black men are stereotyped in the business world.
They are influenced by the same things that we are, and they see things the same as we do. How these law enforcement officials are raised is how they are going to carry out their duties. If they are raised without morals or with racial influence they will most likely use that influence and bad judgment during work. Additionally, terrorism and hate crimes instills great fear in today 's society. With all the recent violence against law enforcement, I can understand why they profile or may come off defensive to the general public.
